Rangers Clinch Fabio Cardoso Signing

Rangers have clinched their fourth signing of the summer transfer window after they wrapped up the services of Portuguese defender Fabio Cardoso from Vitoria Setubal.

The 23-year-old has inked a three-year deal on an undisclosed sum after having made 23 appearances for Vitoria Setubal, who finished fourth in the Primeira Liga standings last term.

Following his arrival to the Glasgow-based club, Cardoso revealed his delight at making the switch to a new country and he is looking forward to a successful period with the former Scottish champions, he told Rangers TV: "I have to adapt to the new country and the new way of living. I am going to be successful though. I will do my best to help me and my team-mates win. A club as big as Rangers has to win."

Cardoso, who is former Portugal under-21 international, becomes the second player from his nation to join Rangers following the arrival of the experienced Bruna Alves from Cagliari. Meanwhile, the club have also recruited midfielder Dalcio on loan from Benfica alongside former Aberdeen skipper Ryan Jack.

23-year-old Cardoso has watched Alves produce a number of stellar displays for the Portugal national team over the years, and he hopes to learn more alongside the veteran as he prepares for the newest challenge in his career, he said: "He is an amazing player and is one of the best defenders from my country. I know with him I will learn a lot. I met Caixinha for the first time in the airport and I spoke to him a lot. I like him and what he had to say and he is the right person to put Rangers where it belongs, which is first place."

Mexican pair Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera have also agreed personal terms with the Scottish outfit, but a move is being put on hold until they are granted a visa by the Scottish Football Association.
