Rangers appear to be heading for a comfortable success

Rangers appear to be heading for a comfortable success in the Scottish second division, but that did not stop the club from strengthening the team in January.

Manager Mark Warburton made some crucial signings over the last few days, but he has already given them a warning. The manager says that the new signings cannot expect to walk straight into the first-team. Instead, he will give every player in the squad of rare opportunity to prove themselves. Rangers are top of the Scottish second division but their lead has been cut in recent weeks.

Falkirk are only three points behind the Scottish giants although they have played one game more. Warburton would have imagined a comfortable cruise to the Scottish Premier league. It has been a few years since Rangers were seen in the Scottish top division. The pressure of having to achieve automatic promotion will start to tell on the players, as the business end of the season approaches. Dropped points against the likes of Falkirk and Greenock Morton in recent weeks have been responsible for reducing the advantage at the top of the table. Rangers, though, quickly returned to form and they recently achieved a 6-0 thrashing of Dumbarton.

Kenny Miller scored a hat-trick in the match, which took his tally to 6 goals in 16 appearances."No player comes in and walks straight into the team.A lot of work has been done already and a lot more work will be done because we said we'll strengthen and bring in players, and that's what we'll do.We want to get our business done early and hopefully we'll get a lot more done this week. You saw the commitment of the players and whoever comes to the club has to justify their position in the team," said Warburton.
