Rangers endured a huge disappointment after failing to get back into the Premier League

Rangers endured a huge disappointment after failing to get back into the Premier League due to a loss against Motherwell in the play-offs.

Getting back into the top flight through the play-offs was always going to be a gamble for one of the biggest clubs in Scotland. They have managed consecutive promotions up until now, but that run has now been brought to a halt after a 6-1 aggregate loss against Motherwell. Poor form in the second half of the campaign forced the club to act and part company with manager Ally McCoist. Stuart McCall was appointed as his interim replacement.
